A Time-Stepping Volume Integral Formulation for Nonlinear Field-Circuit Coupled Problems

نویسندگان

چکیده

A B-conforming time-stepping Volume Integral Method (VIM) formulation for nonlinear 3D field-circuit coupled problems is presented in this paper. The advantage of the VIM with respect to Finite Element (FEM) that only ferromagnetic regions have be discretized, thus avoiding mesh air. It an appealing approach given it avoids numerical errors can arise from meshing direct explained, assembling a system magnetic field and circuit contributions when coils are present. An application current transformer shown, comparing FEM validate its accuracy.

Nonlinear Behaviour of Time-stepping Algorithms for Initial Value Problems

Recent advances in nonlinear dynamical systems theory provide a new insight into numerical properties of discrete algorithms developed to solve nonlinear initial value problems. Basic features like accuracy and stability are well pointed out through diagrams or maps of computed asymptotic solutions in a suitable parametric space. Applying this methodology to a nonlinear test equation, we compar...

An Algebraic Multilevel Preconditioner for Field-Circuit Coupled Problems

Quasi stationary magnetic field formulations are often coupled with lumped parameter models for the driving electrical system. The finite element discretization of such formulations yields linear systems with a large sparse coefficient matrix bordered by dense coupling blocks. The presence of these blocks prevents the straightforward application of black box algebraic multigrid solvers. We pres...

Generalized KVL-KCL Formulation for Coupled Electromagnetic-Circuit Simulation with Surface Integral Equations

In this paper, a new formulation for coupled electromagnetic-circuit simulation is presented. The formulation employs full-wave integral equations to model the electromagnetic (EM) behavior of 2D or 3D structures while using modified nodal analysis (MNA) to model circuit interactions. A coupling scheme based on charge and current continuity and potential matching, realized as a generalization o...

A-T Volume Integral Formulation for Solving Electromagnetic Problems in the frequency domain

Volume integral formulations for solving electromagnetic problems in the frequency domain are proposed. Firstly, it is based on a magnetic flux B and current density J facet interpolation for representing the electromagnetic problem through an equivalent circuit. Secondly, magnetic vector potentials A and electric vector potential T are considered thanks to discrete geometric approach. The form...

A Simple Time-stepping Strategy for Coupled River-aquifer Systems

In this work some numerical solutions based on a finite element discretization of the depth-averaged Boussinesq equation for ground-water flow and the kinematic wave approximation for open channel flow are presented. This problem belongs to a class of coupled problems in which different physics occur in different domains. An additional difficulty is given by the fact that both components are ch...
